If you’ve watched golf on TV, you most likely only tune in during the four majors: The Masters, Open Championship, US Open and PGA Championship. For those that really-really appreciate the game you can add on the Ryder Cup and Players Championship.
Watching a regular PGA tour event has the equivalent entertainment value of watching paint dry or one of those weird talent shows on old school tv programing. I’m not knocking the guys that play in these events, as they’re incredible golfers (best in the world), but unless you have a golf bet lined up, you’re better off hacking it around a golf course by yourself on Sunday.
We need this show to spice things up! Here are the 6 reasons the PGA Tour Netflix “Full Swing” is epic.
LIV Golf Drama
Let’s be real, golf fans don’t miss Phil Mickelson’s cheesy thumbs ups, Ian Poulter’s braggadocious tweets, Brooks Keopka’s bad attitude, Pat Perez shooting in the 80’s or Bryson Dechambeau… more on him later. However, we will LOVE the dramatic scenes of the PGA Tour facing off against LIV GOLF. Absolute entertainment gold. Netflix picked the BEST year in the history of golf to film the PGA tour for a documentary.
Formula 1 Drive to Survive is Awesome
Not only is Formula 1 Drive to Survive an incredibly entertaining show apparently it’s helped grow the sport of Formula 1 in the United States. F1 saw an average of 1 million viewers in 2021 up 56% from previous years before the show. Drive to Survive is awesome. From driver interviews to drama on the circuit between racing teams, this show makes the Jersey Shore look lame.
Popularity: Same Producers as F1 Series
Vox MediaStudios, who produced Drive to Survive are also producing this PGA Netflix show. If you’ve seen Formula 1 Drive to Survive, you know it’s a very well put together show. F1 is a niche sport, with a much smaller audience compared to golf. Similarly, the PGA Netflix show helps drive golf popularity.
We miss Tiger Woods
Let’s be real, Tiger is on his last leg (sorry, no pun intended, seriously). There’s only so many car crashes, sex rehabs and back issues a man can take. Don’t get me wrong, Tiger is a legend and he is the sole reason golf is as popular as it is now. He seems like a great father to his son Charlie and it’s inspiring to see him still involved with the tour. Also, his current comeback is incredible and he may win another major some day. However, we need NEW golf entertainment. Let’s welcome the Netflix “Full Swing” with open arms!

Bryson Dechambeau Not Involved
LIV golfer Dechambeau, also known as “The Mad Scientist”, is annoying. Some people think it’s a travesty Bryson isn’t going to be on this season’s show, but I don’t. Realistically, this show will be so successful, he most assuredly will eventually be on future seasons. Don’t believe me? Scuderia Ferrari didn’t participate in Formula 1 Drive to Survive either at the beginning, now they are all over the show.
