The Ultimate Dublin Ireland Golf Trip

It’s safe to say if you’ve traveled to Dublin, Ireland, you probably fell in love.

Arguably the most influential author of the twentieth century James Joyce put it beautifully, “When I die Dublin will be written in my heart.” You don’t have to be a literary genius or a hipster to come to one conclusion, this city is awesome.

Next time you travel to Dublin, be sure to play these six magnificent golf courses.

Portmarnock Golf Club

Portmarnock Golf Club is located on a stunning stretch of coastline 10 miles north of Dublin. It’s an incredible layout and a true test of golf. The club has three brilliantly designed nines to choose from, red, blue and yellow. It’s a tough but fair links course that has been admired by golf legends like Tiger Woods and Seve Ballestaros.

Dun Loaghaire Golf Club

Dun Loaghaire is not as well known on the golf travel circuit as it’s a parkland course and much of the itineraries are filled with links golf courses. However, Dun Loaghaire is without a doubt a must play golf course in Dublin. It’s a nestled at the foot of the Sugarloaf Mountains in one of the most beautiful valleys on earth. The club name and surrounding area’s may seem to come right out of a J.R.R. Tolkien novel but don’t let this fool you, this golf course is phenomenal. It could be one of the best parkland golf courses in Ireland.

The Island Golf Club

Overlooking the charming Dublin village of Malahide, the Island Golf Club is a masterpiece. Hole by Hole, this course will captivate you with names like Partridge Hollow, Valhalla and Ireland’s Eye. It is a must play on every itinerary. A challenging course that will force you to be creative and use your imagination.

The K Club Palmer North Course

Host of the 2006 Ryder Cup and 2016 Irish Open, The K Club Palmer North Course is an immaculately manicured parkland course that should be on every Dublin itinerary. It has a wonderful layout playing through the woodlands and streams of Kildare with the beautiful Estate Hotel nestled in the middle. Go and experience the nostalgia of an epic Ryder Cup venue. You won’t regret it.

Royal Dublin

Royal Dublin is a true links course with a steep history making it one of the most prestigious courses in Ireland. It’s overall experience is fantastic. Located near the charming Dublin town of Clontarf, on arrival you will cross a wooden bridge to North Bull Island. The landscape is beautiful, with a unique look at the dublin city skyline. With a course redesign by Martin Hawtree, Royal Dublin is a fantastic experience.

Corballis Golf Links

In fairness, Corballis Golf Links could be described as a corky or genius design depending on who you ask. If you’re up for a challenge and like a “shot maker” short course, Corballis is a great addition to the itinerary. It’s located near Dublin airport on a beautiful coastline making it the perfect day of arrival course.
