5 Most Beautiful Formula 1 Cars of All Time

Let’s be real, just because a race car is perfectly stunning doesn’t mean it’s going to be fast or win a Constructors Championship…

You may be surprised to find out that some of the best-looking cars are also some of the best performing. When you look good, you feel good, when you feel good you become confident, when you’re confident you win… most of the time.

Next year in 2022, Formula 1 is planning on entering a new phase of design. It’s a very exciting time for the sport and we are looking forward to what’s ahead!

But let’s take a moment to reflect on the past…

These are the 5 Most Beautiful Formula 1 Cars of All Time:

McLaren MP4/4 – Year 1988

It shouldn’t shock anyone the McLaren MP4/4 is at the top of this list. Formula 1 engineers and designers voted it the greatest Formula 1 car of all time. The car itself is not only gorgeous, but it won 15 of 16 races in 1988. It has a simple, yet exquisite design, with a white livery and red trim. Only fitting that Formula 1 greats Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost drove this car to a Constructors Championship in 1988.

Lotus 79 – Year 1978

Driven by the one and only Mario Andretti, the Lotus 79 is absolutely stunning. In fact, this was the first F1 car to take full advantage of ground effects aerodynamics. It was the pioneer of the many F1 technologies you see on the track today. The car was super successful, winning the Constructor’s Championship in 1978.

Ferrari 1512 – Year 1964

Winner of the 1964 Driver’s and Constructors Championships, The Ferrari 1512 is a machine of beauty. The classic rosso color and the exposed engine in the back of the car looks sleek. It also rides quite low for a car during this era, which is an example of Ferrari’s ingenuity.

Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance – 2021

The Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance F1 car is basically a spaceship on wheels. This team has been almost unbeatable in recent years, with Lewis Hamilton leading the way. The shiny black livery with baby blue trim looks incredible and is probably quite intimidating to other drivers on the track.

Ferrari F2003 GA – Year 2003

Personally, I’m a huge fan of Ferrari. The brand, logo and cars are simply magnificent. It’s tough to pick a “best looking” Ferrari, but the F2003 GA is one of the greatest cars to ever hit F1. With its badass rosso color and white trim, Michael Schumacher cruised to a Constructor’s Championship in 2003.
