5 Stadiums with the Best Atmosphere Bundesliga

On average, the Bundesliga in Germany has the best overall attendance in European Football and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why…

Brats, delicious German beer, electric atmosphere and fantastic entertainment on the pitch, all contribute to an incredible football culture in Deutschland.

The stadiums in Germany are some of the most modern in all of Europe. If you’re considering attending a game on your next trip, below are the top stadiums with the best atmosphere:

Allianz Arena – Bayern München

The Allianz Arena is also on my “Must Visit Football Stadiums in Europe” list and is the perfect home for Bayern Munich. This incredibly large stadium seats up to 75,000 people for Bundesliga matches. It’s been the host of countless World Club and Champions League matches as well. The atmosphere is outstanding and if you’re in Munich for the Octoberfest (Wiesn), a beer festival and Bayern Munich game are a perfect combo. Trust me…

Borussia Park – Mönchengladbach

Once you’re done trying to figure out how to say Borussia Verein für Leibesübungen 1900 e.V. Mönchengladbach” (Full name of football club Mönchengladbach), you should consider Borussia Park when attending a football match. Historically, the club has had some great success in Europe. Their recent revival has created an incredible atmosphere at Borussia Park. There is not a bad seat in the house, so grab a brew and enjoy the action.

Signal Iduna Park – Borussia Dortmund

As one of the top teams in Germany, Dortmund has arguably one of the best stadium atmospheres in Europe. They share some similarities to Liverpool FC in England. In fact, one of their past coaches Jurgen Klopp is now enjoying success with “The Reds”. Also, Dortmund fans are known to sing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” every once in a while at the Signal Iduna Park. This stadium should be at the top of your list if you want to attend a football match in Germany.

Veltins Arena – FC Schalke 04

If you can’t handle the cold German weather and you like eating brats, you may want to attend a Schalke game at the Veltins Arena. The stadium has a retractable roof and 50 grilling stations that can serve up to 5,000 lbs of sausage. This venue is very popular in Germany and is host to many events outside football, but attending a Schalke game should be at the top of your list.

Deutsche Bank Park – Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt has never been my favorite city. It reminds me of a German Detroit, much better than the American version, but still just a huge industrial city nonetheless. With that said, attending an Eintracht Frankfurt game at the Deutsche Bank Park is an absolute blast.

Traveling to Europe to watch a soccer match should be on every itinerary. Next time you’re in Germany, check out these stadiums that have amazing atmosphere.
