Given the current global pandemic, the 2020 Formula 1 season has already exceeded all expectations. Austria was a dogfight and an incredible way to start. Not only was the racing entertaining but who doesn’t like seeing the Alps during summer. The guy yodeling with the accordion simply took it up a notch for round two at the Styrian Grand Prix.

After watching the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend I was inspired to share my list of the most entertaining drivers this season. Keep in mind, the roster of drivers often changes each year so we will be looking at this again for 2021.

Lewis Hamilton – Current Team: Mercedes

Enjoy it while it lasts folks. You’re watching the Formula One equivalent of Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo… I think you get the point. If you’re ever in need of a real life transporter to help you escape from drug dealers in Monte Carlo (site of the Monaco Grand Prix), this is the guy you call. Currently, the Englishman has 86 all time race wins, only 5 behind Michael Schumacher (the leader) at 91. Lewis is a first class competitor and joy to watch on the track.

Romain Grosjean – Current Team: Haas

Once you’re done laughing at the fact that Romain has made my list, I want you to think about it. Love him or hate him, the Swiss-Frenchman is always entertaining to watch. In 2018, he was literally a punch line of every joke in Formula One, but guess what? He’s still racing. That’s because he takes risks on the track and will put in some serious hustling to get some points for Haas.

Daniel Ricciardo – Current Team: Renault

Daniel could be Lewis Hamilton if he wasn’t so busy trying to be a comedian ala Rodney Dangerfield. Okay, I know that’s a bit of a stretch but he has incredible speed and could be one of the best drivers in Formula One. The Australian does have a great sense of humor, but on the race track he is one of the most aggressive drivers on the circuit. I can respect any man that drinks $1,000 champagne from his shoe when he wins a race (his trademark celebration).

Max Verstappen – Current Team: Red Bull

At first I absolutely couldn’t stand Max Verstappen. He seemed like that kid you hated in high school that was rich, a great athlete and also a dick. All of that might still actually be true, but I have huge respect for him as a driver. The Belgian-Dutchman has already had an incredible 2020 season and I believe he could be the future of Formula 1. Will he be the driver to take the throne away from Hamilton?
